Guiding the Ontology Matching Process with Reasoning in a Pdms

چکیده
This article focuses on ontology matching in a decentralized setting. The work takes place in the MediaD project. Ontologies are the description of peers data belonging to the peer data management system SomeRDFS. First, we present some particularities of ontology matching in a peer-to-peer setting, the data model and query answering in SomeRDFS PDMSs. Then, we show how to take advantage of query answering in order to help discovering new mappings between ontologies, either mapping shortcuts corresponding to a composition of pre-existent mappings or mappings which can not be inferred from the network but yet relevant. This work has been partly implemented. We present the results of some experiments which confirm the interest of our approach.

Centralized Clustering Method To Increase Accuracy In Ontology Matching Systems
Ontology is the main infrastructure of the Semantic Web which provides facilities for integration, searching and sharing of information on the web. Development of ontologies as the basis of semantic web and their heterogeneities have led to the existence of ontology matching. By emerging large-scale ontologies in real domain, the ontology matching systems faced with some problem like memory con...
متن کاملSemMatcher: A Tool for Matching Ontology-based Schemas
In Peer Data Management Systems (PDMS), each peer is an autonomous source that makes available a local schema. Information exchange occurs through the establishment of schema mappings between local schemas. To help matters, ontologies have been considered as uniform representation of local schemas (i.e., peer ontologies). Consequently, ontology matching techniques have been used to determine sc...
متن کاملAn Improved Semantic Schema Matching Approach
Schema matching is a critical step in many applications, such as data warehouse loading, Online Analytical Process (OLAP), Data mining, semantic web [2] and schema integration. This task is defined for finding the semantic correspondences between elements of two schemas. Recently, schema matching has found considerable interest in both research and practice. In this paper, we present a new impr...
متن کاملEnhancing Ontology Matching using Logic-based Reasoning
Ontologies, as formal representations of conceptualizations of domain knowledge, have proven to be very useful in real world applications like the Semantic Web. Given the increasing number of ontologies which are independently developed, but which represent overlapping domain knowledge, there is an urgent need to integrate them. Ontology matching meets this need by (semi-)automatically finding ...
متن کاملIntegrity and Change in Modular Ontologies
The benefits of modular representations are well known from many areas of computer science. In this paper, we concentrate on the benefits of modular ontologies with respect to local containment of terminological reasoning. We define an architecture for modular ontologies that supports local reasoning by compiling implied subsumption relations. We further address the problem of guaranteeing the ...
